Utilizing a higher reduction ratio than the throttle based drive unit, Tangent's pedal assist kit creates massive torque and incredible efficiencies in just 7lbs. By utilizing a torque sensing bottom bracket the system is configured to provide a multiple of the power put into the pedals by the rider. 3000W of power is available and is easily detuned to suit rider preference, legal or race restrictions.

Our PAS drive unit combines a 40:1 internal ratio with a 1.875:1 secondary chain reduction. This yields a maximum motor driven pedal cadence of 165 RPM. 2.1lb-ft of motor shaft torque become an astounding 160ft-lbs at the crankset, available instantly and as fast as you can accelerate. Tangent's 7lb PAS drive makes as much torque as a 300lb rider pushing on the pedals as hard as they can. And we won't get tired.
Tangent builds for you, using the same gear design as in our 6kW monster kit, we won't cheapen your ride with a plastic gearbox unlike the others. Combining a motor that's 94% efficient with a true steel gearbox and advanced lubrication yields better than 10Wh/mile at 4x assist level. You'll need less battery weight for the same range and get more torque in the process. The DIY kit allows the highest performing drivetrain to be mated to the frame of your choice, lowering the cost to enter the world of ebikes and ebike racing by not forcing riders to purchase an expensive, single purpose ebike the big manufacturers are pushing.
THUN torque sensing Bottom Bracket
Our torque sensing cartridge BB is fully sealed against the elements and provides accurate torque, rotation and speed sensing. The rider's torque input is measured on the left crank and input to the Cycle Analyst where an on-the-fly and infinitely adjustable multiple of the input torque is commanded at the motor. 3000W of power are available to produce an absurd amount of torque if desired. Of course, power is easily limited to local street legal levels and is readily verifiable for racing restrictions. The efficiency of the Tangent drivetrain allows us to measure and limit battery output power whereas some of our larger competitors are quoting 'effective power'. Our efficiency means smaller batteries for the same range.

Utilizing the venerable Cycle Analyst as our main brain, all CA functionality is retained and available to the rider including on-the-fly assist adjustment, ebrake and gearsensor input for lightning fast shifting and more.
